A kiss from France
While I’m getting back into my working routine at home, I reminisce those happy days we spend in France just a week ago. It was a perfect balance between doing something and doing nothing, between idyllic rivers, the Mediterranean sea and turquoise swimming pools, between cities, charming villages and the middle of nowhere, between coq au vin and ‘pain americain’ and between red, white AND even rosé wine… Sounds good right?
Like I mentioned earlier, a big wave of nostalgia hit me constantly, so it was a lot about reliving my youth in many different places. Although we behaved ourselves like ‘real tourists’ for at least a couple of days, our main focus was on eating, drinking, reading and relaxing. Yes, we took good care of that.
We ended our trip in the peaceful hamlet of Castelbouze, next to Saint Chinian, which is not so far from Beziers, a city of inland Languedoc Rousillon… Got it? If you’re looking for a charming and welcoming place to stay where you never want to leave, this chambre d’hôtes should be your next stop. In the middle of the vineyards (yay! what a pretty sight!) you’ll find La Souche, a former winemaker’s house which have been renovated and super stylishly restyled by Dutch couple Marianne and Hennie (and doggie Trudy). It’s was such a pleasure to wind down in the garden, at the pool and on the terrace with in the hand a glass of chilled wine from the nearby Mas de Dames winery. Vacation as vacation should be in my opinion.
Luckily back home in Barcelona we are experiencing hot and sunny temps as well, so the summer vibe is definitely not over yet!
